Has the Dodd vs. Jackson decision left you confused about what to expect in South Carolina?

The state, Beaufort and Charleston Leagues, along with WREN and the YMCA of Greater Charleston are coming together for a virtual panel discussion to inform and empower South Carolina women and families as we struggle to understand the intended - and unintended - consequences of this new post-Roe reality.

On August 17th, in the week leading up to Women's Equality Day 2022, we will convene a panel of experts on law and women’s health to discuss and answer questions about how changes in South Carolina law will affect our ability to make safe, appropriate health decisions for ourselves and our families:

  • Kimberly Dudas, PhD, RN-BC - Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Innovation (Interim), Director of Campus Health Initiatives USC-Beaufort

  • Ashley Lidow – Director of Policy and Government Relations at WREN

  • Stephen Schaeffer Meyer, JD - Attorney and Family Court Mediator

Panelists will address questions such as:

  • What new or worsened risks to women’s health should we anticipate and what steps are women’s health professionals taking to alleviate the repercussions?

  • What unintended impacts are possible for family units, social services, and our communities post Roe?

  • What can individuals do to advocate for women’s reproductive rights in SC? What are allied organizations doing to advocate for women’s reproductive rights?
