The League needs you
Most people join the League of Women Voters to be more engaged in the political process through voter registration and civic education. We do both of those very well. So well, in fact, that we are being overwhelmed with requests!
We are doing more community outreach and voter registration than ever before. But that is taxing our regular volunteers to the point that we are forced to turn down requests.
Some of our new projects include:
Working closely with the United Way of Greenville this year to provide voter registration through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program and at all three School Tools locations.
Partnering with a coalition of local organizations led by the NAACP to conduct voter registration in every local high school during National Voter Registration Month in September.
Working with the HEAL Board of LiveWell Greenville with a specific goal of reaching communities in the White Horse Road area.
These initiatives have greatly expanded our reach into new communities, especially Spanish-speaking communities.
Please consider what you can do to help us make an impact this November. To sign up for voter registration now, contact Jean LePere.
Another opportunity to get involved with our team, is our next in-person meeting on Thursday August 22, 2024 at the Hughes Main Library, 25 Heritage Green Place, Greenville, SC 29601, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. We will have an opportunity to meet our newer members, do voter registration training for those who need it, and tell you about the ways you can help.
