A Conversation About “The Families’ Civil War”

Dr. Holly Pinheiro, assistant professor of African-American History at Furman University, discusses some of the fascinating stories from his new book, "The Families’ Civil War." The book follows Black families from Philadelphia who had a family member fighting for the Union during the Civil War. Dr. Pinheiro's research tracks these families through decades of struggles. Dr. Pinheiro has tracked living descendants and tells empowering and engaging stories of their lives. Lawson Wetli moderates the conversation.
