SC Presidential Primaries

It’s presidential primary season and South Carolina comes relatively early among the states. We are first in the nation for the Democratic Primary on February 3 and third for the Republican primary on February 24, coming after Iowa and New Hampshire. Registered voters can vote in either primary but can only vote in one.

Here are the details you need to know to vote.

Registration

The deadline to register to vote in the Democratic Primary has passed. The deadline to register for the Republican Primary is Jan. 25. Mail in applications must be postmarked by this date. Register online.

Early Voting

Early in-person voting is available for both primaries.

Democratic Primary: Early voting will be held Monday through Saturday from January 22 through February 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no early voting on January 28. Early voting locations are:

  • TRAVELERS REST 155 Trailblazer Dr., Travelers Rest, SC 29690 (Fire Station)

  • MCALISTER SQUARE 225 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Ste. B10, Greenville, SC 29607

  • MAULDIN SENIOR CENTER 203 Corn Rd., Greenville, SC 29607

  • MT. PLEASANT RECREATION CENTER 710 S. Fairfield Rd., Greenville, SC 29605

Note that there is no early voting for either primary at the County Square election office.

Republican Primary: Early voting will be held Monday through Saturday from February 12 through February 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no early voting on Monday, February 19 (Presidents’ Day).
