The deets:

  • Married to Paul (50th anniversary coming in January!); two grown children and two grands; two cats

  • Forty-five years in Greenville, 30 years on the East side

  • Retired in 2018 from the Fine Arts Center, where she was the Dance Director

What brought you to the League of Women Voters?

After the 2016 election especially, and even before I retired, I was concerned about where we were headed, about vulnerable populations. I like that the League is non-partisan. I met the previous local president, Lawson (Wetli), who encouraged me to start small, take commitment in small bites – being a recent retiree, I didn’t want to over-commit!

What would you like to see Greenville LWV do in the next year or so?

I’d like to see the League become more visible, to capitalize on the community of women in the area. Would love to see more in-person meetings, both formal with agendas and informal get-togethers.

What is the most surprising/interesting thing you’ve learned from being in the LWV?

It’s interesting meeting people from different areas of the city, working with people I would not otherwise encounter, from other cultures or communities within Greenville, of varying ages. Even new citizens at the voter registration events we hold.

What do you like most about this area?

My grandkids, and the beauty of the area: the mountains, trees, hiking

What is your favorite time of the day and why?

Definitely morning, it’s when I’m most productive. Things tail off after noon …
